Karen has Proven Experience

  • As the Political/Legislative Coordinator and Organizer for AFSCME Council 67, she lobbied our state elected officials to create and support legislation that strengthens working class families in Prince George’s County and Maryland.
  • Karen represented AFSCME Council 67 on the Health Care for America Now (HCAN) Committee, alongside our Congressional and U.S. Senate Representatives to support President Barack Obama’s Health Care Legislation. She led rallies, participated in press conferences and worked to ensure the American people would have a health care reform bill that worked for them.
  • Maryland State Director for President Obama’s Transition team’s 2009 National Day of Service.
  • As the previous Field Director for the Democratic National Committee assigned to the Maryland State Democratic Party, Karen was responsible for creating, training and directing the operations in the Prince George’s County (Largo Office) and Southern, Maryland headquarters. The Obama Largo office became the most successful official Obama campaign headquarters on the entire East Coast.

  • Appointed by the County Executive as a Trustee to the Prince George’s County Historical and Cultural Trust.
  • Board of Director’s – Ivy Community Charities of Prince George’s County, Parliamentarian.
  • Served as a Community Liaison to Former Congressman Albert Wynn’s Health Care Advisory Committee.

  • Prince George’s County Democratic Central Committee, PGCYD Representative.
